During the summer of 2023, Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky, spent time sailing around Mallorca with their three children aboard La Juliana, a historic golondrina vessel that transported thousands of tourists between the Colònia de Sant Jordi and the Cabrera archipelago for over half a century. This passenger boat, originally built in 1965 in Mallorca, has been refurbished as a private charter that is available for hire along the Balearic coasts.

La Juliana measures 18 metres in length, with a beam of 4.5 metres and a draught of 1.2 metres. Powered by a 225 HP engine, it features three cabins designed for passengers. The original design, dating back to the 1960s, focused on width and comfort to provide tourists with enjoyable coastal cruises while taking in the open air along Mallorca's shores. Notably, the boat includes a wooden aft platform of nearly 8 square metres, which offers an ideal space for extended swimming breaks directly from the vessel.

The central living area combines the lounge, dining space and kitchen into a bright, open-plan zone fully exposed to the sea and fresh air. Covered by a large sunshade canopy — a unique feature among boats of this size in the area according to the owners — it offers practical comfort. The main cabin contains two beds measuring 130 centimetres wide each, designed for restful nights. Each bed is accompanied by a bedside table equipped with individual USB ports for charging devices and independent switches to control fans during warmer weather.

Rental rates for La Juliana are personalised according to each client's preferences and requirements, with no fixed standard price. The owner tailors quotes based on the group's travel desires, allowing customised experiences that can include various services and timeframes. A 'Club' membership system offers frequent clients the chance to build friendships with the owner and receive invitations to spend time on board free of charge.

Prospective renters can request an exact quote by completing a reservation form on the boat's website, specifying dates, number of guests and sailing preferences. Golondrinas are traditional Mediterranean passenger vessels that emerged in 20th-century Spain to provide coastal sightseeing tours. In Mallorca, they became a common sight from the 1950s and 60s, coinciding with mass tourism growth in the region.

The rental price covers a full crew responsible for navigation, upkeep and cleanliness during the charter. The skipper chooses suitable routes based on weather and client preferences, ensuring safe and pleasant journeys. Additionally, snorkelling and diving equipment is offered so passengers can explore the crystal-clear waters of Mallorca's coves. Fresh towels are also provided and maintained by the crew throughout the trip. To complete the ambiance, a vintage-style personalised music playlist enhances the onboard atmosphere unique to La Juliana.
