Tripadvisor, a global reference in the field of dining, presented its Best of the Best awards this week, which recognise destinations, hotels or establishments that, over the course of twelve months, have received positive reviews and ratings from users of the application. And in these awards, Mallorca has shone brightly thanks to Izakaya, which has managed to secure second place in the world in the “fine dining restaurant” category, only behind the Argentinian venue Fogón Asado (Buenos Aires).
The restaurant, located on Carrer Monsenyor Palmer in Palma, near the seafront promenade, has expressed its happiness and gratitude for receiving this award on social media, an achievement which, they say, “fills us with pride”. “This success would not be possible without the passion of our team nor the trust of everyone who chooses us and shares this experience with us. Thank you for accompanying us on this journey. This award is as much yours as it is ours.”
Izakaya describes itself as a “high-end Japanese restaurant”, where, as they explain, “we reflect on traditional Japanese cuisine and its ancestral culinary techniques, using local and seasonal produce, and interpreting it with our personal touch”. Among its star dishes are its sushi and nigiri, sold individually and prepared with sashimi of the highest quality. In addition, they also offer several tasting menus that include the finest creations that Izakaya has made its hallmark.
How are the winners chosen?
Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best awards take into account both the quality and the quantity of travellers’ reviews and ratings, and rank the best accommodation, destinations, beaches, attractions, restaurants, airlines and experiences in specific categories and geographical areas such as “Fine dining restaurants”, where Izakaya achieved second place.
“The choice of winners is based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings published on Tripadvisor over a period of 12 months, as well as on an additional editorial process. The winners of this award are among the top 10% of profiles,” explains the portal. In Izakaya’s case, the restaurant has achieved a score of 4.9 out of 5 with a total of 3,664 reviews, with service and food being the categories most highly rated by users.
