Talk big, do nothing. Europe’s failings

Maduro had been condemned by all, a bounty had been put on his head by a previous U.S. President, but when something is done they complain

Venezuela is a better place without dictator Nicholas Maduro. For years he was condemned by the western democracies and repeatedly told to step down after losing the last elections. Maduro stayed, Venezuela suffered and the western democracies did nothing.

This week he was brought to justice and President Donald Trump could ask for a share of the bounty a previous U.S. President had put on Maduro’s head. But instead of celebrating, the western democracies turn on the U.S. government and rather than offering congratulations, they complain that the U.S. should never have acted in the first place! So it was better to just wait and see rather than take decisive action?

I am no fan of President Donald Trump, but he got the job done. One of the principal reasons for the kidnap/arrest was to free Venezuela so that its extensive oil reserves could be brought back online. Many American companies will benefit but so will the people of Venezuela.

Under Maduro they saw little or no gain from the oil; under Trump at least they will see something. The European democracies are in terminal decline, they have just become talking shops where views are aired and then re-aired. Hot air gets you nowhere, action does.
