If you take notice of some of the weather warnings from the Palma Met Office you would have thought that the world was coming to an end. I am rather bored of placing sand-bags at the door of my house, locking all windows and putting on a steel helmet, only to discover that it is a beautiful sunny day in contrast to the weather forecasts.
The question has to be asked, how can they get it so wrong? Let us face it, these days it is not a question of forecasting the weather using a pine comb and a stick, there is a vast array of technology which should make their job much easier, well in theory!
There was one warning recently when they told people not to go out because of the adverse weather and then I discovered that people were sitting on the beach!
Seriously speaking they have a very difficult job and after what happened in Valencia last year I can see why they want to warn the public about adverse weather. But there is a danger of Crying Wolf; also it is costing the local economy a small fortune.
If you are sitting in Germany and Britain and you see a poor weather forecast for Mallorca, you are unlikely to book a warm weather getaway. Try and get it right, please, so much depends on it. Good weather is good news for Mallorca.
