There is a mass exodus from Britain, if you believe some newspapers and TV stations as Britons search for a new and better life. I would welcome more Britons moving to Mallorca with open arms but the move is not without its pitfalls.
Since Brexit it has become more difficult to move to European Union countries. My tip before moving is to learn Spanish. I know it sounds silly but a large number of Britons (and other nationalities) don't speak a word before making the big move.
The other thing to take into account is that it does get cold in Mallorca in the winter and sizeable parts of the island shut down for the low season. Wages are lower than in the United Kingdom and the cost of living is high, in some instances I would say that supermarket prices are even higher here than in Britain.
The quality of life is undoubtedly better and the welcome is warm but moving abroad is an adventure. Many expats are forced to return “home” because they haven't learnt the basics. It is not easy living in a foreign country. I remember my mother going to the village shop in the 1970s and asking for Bisto and Marmite! Not happening. Know before you go is my suggestion. There is one thing living in Mallorca in the summer, but living all year round can be a real challenge.
