Good evening,
I felt compelled to add on from the reader requesting "don't blame the tourists". I couldn't agree more. Property should only be bought and/or rented out by locals to stop the greedy minority from abroad monopolising the market.
Flights could also be limited as a second line of defence. Many people like me, enjoy visiting Mallorca and treat the island and its residents with adoration and respect.
Tourists should not be to blame and they also bring in a great deal of revenue to the island. It is a shame that locals feel the need to confront those on their holidays they have saved up for all year.
Kind regards,

Dear Sir,
As a regular tourist to spain, from the uk, and the islands, inc the canaries. I don't get the 'tourist go home' + 'you're not welcome here' demonstations. I would have thought that a huge part of Spain's income and employment comes from tourism.
I understand the frustration of a lack of affordable housing. Trust me, WE in the uk, UNDERSTAND the lack of affordable housing. We are INNUNDATED with thousands of illegal immigrants crossing the channel in rubber dinghies, daily. OUR GOVERNMENT, as soft touches, house them in HOTELS, SOCIAL HOUSING AND EVEN, RECENTLY, ON CRUISE SHIPS. Its ridiculous!! Our young, like your own, cannot get affordable housing. It is a crisis!!!
We have a similar issue, it seems. But for different reasons. I wonder though, in your region, who SOLD all these properties that the tourists are buying up? (The apparent reason for your demonstrations). The properties are obviously going to the highest bidder. I put it to you, have you not created your own problem buy SELLING them to tourists in the 1st place? Now you are blaming the tourists for the problem. Maybe I am just being ignorant, I don't know. But the issue appears to originate from the sellers...not the buyers. I think you need to look closer to home. Rather than blame the easy targets, tourists.
Remember...this is just an opinion. But all these protest actions are going to have some kind of RE-action.
Regards,
