Personally for me, nothing beats starting the day with a nice cup of Mallorcan coffee whilst writing up my bird notes. The coffee here always tastes divine, and an ideal host to go with a coffee is a ‘tostada de tomate’. Depending on which café you visit, they all have their own little tweak on these, and there are some I have had that tasted ok and others that are out of this world.
Either way, sitting outside the café at a little table, sipping a coffee, nibbling away after lashes of freshly juiced tomatoes are added on top of the crispy toast, and of course a little more olive oil, watching the world go by and gearing oneself up for the day is a magical moment. Coupled with some bird song from all around, and people watching to add to the scene, it is a lovely way to relax before the day ahead.
Numerous locals come and go, some order takeaway drinks, others stay and enjoy a chin-wag amongst friends, putting to rest a hundred different topics. For me, I will be fuelled up and ready to embrace another day in the life of Mallorca.
