Puerto Pollensa is making the headlines this year for all the wrong reasons. For the past few weeks there has been regular coverage of the ongoing saga of the beach beds and sunshades and the pedestrianisation of the sea front and other alleged improvements. However, it appears that the locals are not happy. Yesterday I received a call from a Briton who has owned a villa just outside the port for over 30 years. He said that the new promenade, only a month old, is a filthy disgrace. He said that it is already stained and that the design is "cheap" compared to other developments in resorts like Arenal. He also pointed out that, in order to install another cycle lane, 500 front line parking spaces have been eliminated.
"For people living just outside the port this is going to make heading to the beach a total nightmare. The port’s not full yet, but there’s already parking chaos. It’s a total disgrace. It’s been a total waste of money and I know many who think the same."
