It was a big win for Real Mallorca at the weekend; first home match of the season and three points on the table. It was an even bigger win for Real Mallorca owner Utz Claassen who has spent heavily on the team over the summer break. At the final whistle he punched the air with delight. I watched Claassen during the match and I can assure you that it is no fun being the owner of a club which is playing their first home match of the season, being just 1-0 up and playing with 10 men. Claassen told me just moments after the final whistle that Mallorca were on their way and the First Division beckons. I sincerely hope he is right and already there is a new atmosphere around the Son Moix. The ground looks in better shape and there is a belief that this season could be the one which sees Real Mallorca return to the first division. The fans can´t ask for much more really. Mallorca have spent heavily and Claassen has big plans for the club. He was telling me that he believed they were one of the favourites to be promoted but it is a long season and the Second Division is not for the faint-hearted. I enjoyed Sunday´s match, there was a good atmosphere and of course Real Mallorca won. So if you fancy watching some good football in a nice environment, go to the Son Moix. Real Mallorca have some new and exciting players, and I would urge one and all to get behind Real Mallorca and make it happen. Next stop the first division....but we have a long way to go!
