British actress Sophie Turner recently spent a short but busy period in Mallorca filming a commercial for the French elderflower liqueur St‑Germain. Best known for portraying Sansa Stark in the acclaimed television series Game of Thrones, Turner arrived on the island for a tightly scheduled shoot. Despite persistent rain and strong winds, the production team managed to complete the filming in just a few hours before the actress left Mallorca to continue with another professional commitment.
The difficult weather presented several logistical challenges for the crew. Technical staff had to shield cameras and electrical equipment from the rain while repeatedly adjusting lighting to maintain the desired atmosphere. Beneath temporary canopies, set designers arranged props such as pale canvas deckchairs, wooden loungers, parasols and cocktail tables to evoke the feel of a relaxed Mediterranean afternoon. Turner moved comfortably between the set and the crew, demonstrating the ease and professionalism developed during years of working on large productions.
Turner first gained international attention through her role in Game of Thrones, where Sansa Stark’s character evolved from an inexperienced noble girl into one of the story’s most resilient figures. The global popularity of the series helped launch Turner’s career in the film industry. She later appeared as Jean Grey in the X‑Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, expanding her profile within major Hollywood franchises.
This is not the first time the actress has worked on the island. Turner previously filmed scenes in Mallorca for the British television drama Joan, in which she portrays the real-life figure Joan Hannington. The six-part series, produced for ITV and created by Anna Symon, tells the story of a woman who rose from modest beginnings to become a notorious figure in Britain’s criminal underworld. The production used several locations on Mallorca alongside filming in parts of the United Kingdom.
A new phase of her career is also now approaching. Turner has recently been cast as the iconic adventurer Lara Croft in an upcoming live-action television series based on the Tomb Raider franchise. The production, being developed by Amazon MGM Studios for the streaming service Prime Video and produced by Phoebe Waller‑Bridge, aims to introduce a new interpretation of the character for television audiences. Previous screen versions of Lara Croft were famously played by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, making the new adaptation a notable step in the franchise’s evolution.
Although the commercial shoot took place under grey skies, the finished advertisement is expected to present a bright, elegant Mediterranean scene. Productions increasingly choose Mallorca for this type of work thanks to its varied landscapes and reliable film infrastructure. When the Saint-Germain campaign appears later this year, viewers will likely see a sunlit setting and relaxed summer mood—an image created through careful planning, quick adjustments and a determined crew working through rain and wind to capture the perfect moment.
