Michael Douglas has been spotted once again this summer on the streets of Menorca, looking like just another local. He didn’t want to miss the Sant Joan festivities either. Over the years, he has proven to be in love with the island’s coves, villages and, of course, its cuisine.

On Monday, he stopped for lunch at the Mesón Can Jaume restaurant in Es Mercadal, accompanied by his daughter Carys Douglas, daughter of Catherine Zeta-Jones, and a friend who, according to reports, is a regular customer of the establishment.

The Hollywood legend who has owned a property in Valldemossa for over 30 years, posed for a picture alongside maître d’ Carlos and Jaume, one of the Riudavets brothers, owners of the Molí des Racó group. Not surprisingly, this is a restaurant specialising in typical Menorcan cuisine, meat from the island and local products. It is part of the Molí des Racó group.

Last summer Douglas enjoyed a cruise to Menorca from Mallorca and is expected to return to Mallorca after the festivities in Menorca. Winner of two Oscars and five Golden Globes, the film producer is also a lover of the Balearic Sea. From his luxurious estate S’Estaca in Mallorca, he spends more and more time in the islands whenever his professional commitments allow. Last summer he said that he would love to spend the past of six months a year at his Mallorca property.

The actor told the media: “I want to get rid of the extra baggage I have accumulated over the years and enjoy my free time here. I’m going to be in Mallorca for six or seven months. It’s not a formal retirement, but I’m semi-retired,” he said. Such is his attachment to the Balearics that in 2003 he was appointed Mallorca’s cultural ambassador.
