The Canadians are quite literally getting on their bikes for the launch of the three weekly direct flights to Palma which start next month. Air Canada said that they had so many bookings from Canadian cyclists they have been forced to change their aircraft because of the extra load!

Air Canada and the leading local authorities, together with representatives from the tourism and business sectors, officially launched their new direct summer service on Wednesday.

The leading local authorities all attended the launch of the new Air Canada service.

The flights start on June 18 between Palma Airport and Montreal, strengthening connectivity between the Balearic capital and Canada with the only direct flight between the two cities.

The event took place at the Mallorca Son Moix Stadium and was attended by Margaret Skinner, Air Canada’s Senior Director of Sales and Jaime Martínez, Mayor of Palma along with representatives of the local authorities and institutions from Mallorca.

The service will operate three times a week during the summer season—from mid-June to late October—offering customers a direct and convenient connection between Palma and Canada in just over eight hours. Flights will depart from Palma every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, with return flights from Montreal on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Margaret Skinner, Senior Director of Sales for Air Canada in EMEAI, stated that the company “is delighted to launch the new direct service between Palma and Montreal, further strengthening the ties between Spain and Canada.” “Our goal is to support tourism, connect friends, families, and businesses, and make access to Air Canada’s global network easier than ever before. This new transatlantic route makes that possible, offering customers a seamless and comfortable connection,” she said.

Through Air Canada’s Montreal hub, passengers traveling from Palma will benefit from seamless connections to destinations in Canada, the United States, and South America. Whether exploring Canada via hubs like Toronto or Vancouver, or traveling further to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cancun, or Bogota, Mexico, all these destinations are available through a single booking and a simple connecting experience.

Travellers connecting to the United States via Canada can also take advantage of U.S. customs and immigration pre-clearance facilities in Montreal, allowing them to arrive at their U.S. destination as domestic passengers. The service will be operated using Air Canada’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamline.
