The Bulletin recently reported on the panic gripping the British community in Mallorca because of a shortage of tea bngs on supermarket shelves. However, it appears that holidaymakers from the UK have it all sorted.
According to tour operator TUI, almost half of UK travellers pack tea bags to take with them when they go on holiday and that’s not all.
16 per cent can’t do without ketchup or sliced bread, with a further 12 per cent refusing to leave the country unless they have their favourite cereal and squash, and this leads to Britons quite often packing too much which means their luggage exceed weight restrictions which TUI is apparently going to take into account.
“This research shows just how much Brits love to take home comforts on holiday with them,” says Phillip Iveson, Commercial Director of TUI.
“That’s why we’ve decided to increase our luggage allowance for TUI Airways to 20kg as standard, and add an extra 5kg for guests staying at TUI BLUE, Holiday Village and A La Carte hotels.
"With all that extra weight to play around with, guests will have plenty of room to take along photos of their pets, a hearty number of teabags, and even a loaf or two of sliced bread.”
