Dear Sir,
I’m dropping a line in frustration. I live a lot of the time in Soller, I understand the area is getting very busy but our local council just seem to want to "ban" and "prohibit" and fine people without addressing the issues, or even making them clear.
Over the last few days they have put up signage to prohibit tourists from entering the town via the 1st street after the tunnel. The tourists are usually German, British etc. how are they expected to understand signage in Majorcan, "excepte veins i serveis"? Even google translate can’t help, it gives me "except veins & services". If I saw it, I would think that it means I can use the road if I am accessing local services.
Put tourist signage in Castilian and they stand a chance of understanding. Put in additional parking and they will not clog up the streets of the port and town. Our council wants to act as if this problem is unique, it is not. It is the same in all the popular places around the world so we must manage it....effectively.
I have not found any way of getting the local council to take points such as mine onboard. Have you any ideas or am I just wasting my time?
Many thanks,
Dorothy
