Dear Sir,
My congratulations on your editorial re terraces in Palma and your relentless campaign over the years for Palma businesses to stay open over the weekend. Some two years ago to visit Palma on a Saturday afternoon was to visit a ghost town. Things have improved with more businesses open and particularly the opening up of terraces along the Borne. Palma, with a wealth of cultural, shopping and eating facilities, has considerable potential for long-weekend tourism, but perhaps that is the wrong kind of tourism: not on the Balearic government’s welcome list? Palma around Christmas time is very attractive with well-lit terraces and street markets, but as you say is the place for a brief indulgence rather than for regular eating.
