Dear Sir,
The MDB reports that six thousand expatriates have signed a petition to the British parliament calling for all British citizens overseas to be given the vote in the BREXIT referendum. I too have signed the petition but having lived outside the UK for 15 years I presume my petition will be invalid. It seems many of the 6000 will be like me stuck between a rock and a hard place!

Dear Sir,
In the Bulletin today (Friday 26 February), you asked for expat readers to air their views on this crucial subject. As one who has lived happily on the island for almost 30 years, it is of trepidation. It seems at the moment to be problematical and is not possible to forecast the outcome. I am, however, like many pensioners, very apprehensive, especially regarding the fall in the value of the pound Sterling against the Euro. We have seen, due to the uncertainty engendered, my income to my bank account here in Spain decrease by 15 to 20 per cent. Should Britain decide to leave the EU, I feel the pound will fall even more. It will, at any rate, make things more difficult. One other effect, most important, is the reciprocal agreement on health. I do hope, however, that although it looks bleak for pro-Europeans, the fact that the British Labour Party is almost 100% for remaining in Europe, plus Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have also declared their support.
If we expats are permitted to vote on the question, I have no doubts we shall win.
Yours sincerely,
Phil Green
