Value for money
Dear Sir,
I read with interest Frank Leavers’ unfortunate experience in being overcharged recently and sympathise with him.
However, some good places still do still exist. I stumbled upon one myself by chance when looking for Sunday lunch. Ted’s Place in Palmanova, lovely food, and plenty of it, at reasonable prices, served in a friendly atmosphere and professional manner.
We had our little dog with us and they even provided a bowl of water for him. The place was full of expats and now I know why: good value for money.

Local taxes
Dear Sir,
Last June my wife and I had an offer accepted for an apartment in Cala d’Or and last week we completed the purchase and now have started to do some internal works. As all property owners know only too well, all purchases and running costs as far as local taxes are concerned are not cheap by any means. Outside our apartment in the street a safety barrier is warning pedestrians to beware of a manhole cover that has very nearly rusted away and is in danger of collapsing. It was there in June and is still there. What are we paying our taxes for? Maybe when someone falls into the manhole the hazard may get fixed.
