Winter holidays
Dear Sir,
We fully support your campaign for more winter flights, even though we can fly from Manchester. Our problem is the number of resort hotels which open in the low season. As we already live in a city, we prefer to take a break away from the city atmosphere, and we’re sure we’re not alone in this.
We used to come in January (a lovely month on the island) but these days we find it almost impossible to find a hotel open.
When you have accomplished your ‘flight fight’ could you throw your weight behind hotel opening times? Then there may be places to stay for the people coming in on the winter flights outside of Palma!

Dull and boring
Dear Sir,
Full marks to Jason Moore for his recognition of Nicola Sturgeon as one of the very few dynamic politicians involved in the run up to the general election.
Having taken part in the MDB debate on the subject of the Independence Referendum last September it is refreshing to see that politics in Scotland has remained firmly in the eyes of its’ people and that political engagement continues in a way that is not so easily identified in the rest of the United Kingdom.
Alex Salmond was not everybody’s cup of tea and it looks as though history may well prove that his masterstroke was to demit office in favour of Nicola Sturgeon as First Minister.
More moderate, less abrasive, more conciliatory and more humane than her previous boss, it looks as though she has the credentials to ensure that whoever occupies No. 10 the promises made to the people of Scotland last year WILL be delivered AND in full.
