Magalluf beach
Dear Sir,
Living by Magalluf beach, I do not for one moment expect peaceful nights during the Summer months. If, however, the proposed transformation of the area into an up-market “Calvia Beach” is to happen, then something needs to be done about the nightly unruly behaviour on the sea front.
Throughout the night there are as many people as during the day down there, screaming, shouting, singing, throwing up, fighting, urinating and God knows what else.
There’s often worse....for example, between five and six o’clock early on Thursday morning (3 July) there were some particularly nasty and noisy individuals using the tables and chairs of open-air restaurants as missiles to throw at each other. Some ran up the steps from the beach, disappearing with chairs under their arms.
Some did their best, at some risk to themselves, to confront the drunken thugs but this went on for about a whole hour without any sign of the police. This needs to be a matter of concern for Calvia Council and also of course those investing millions of euros into the sea front area.
If the transformation is going to work, there has to be more security to keep those the worse from wear after partying on the Punta Ballena well away from the beach and promenade during the night otherwise the improvements being made will all be for nothing.
