Dear Sir,
I am afraid this may come across as a rant rather than a story.
It was just that I saw the entry in the Bulletin today saying that the Balearics day will be used to push Winter tourism.
I have been lucky enough to have a surplus of leave to use this year before March.
I live south of Birmingham and have found it incredibly frustrating that I cannot get flights.
The flight system to the Balearics has steadily become worse over the past few years. I used to bite the bullet and travel from London or Manchester and incur the extra costs but even this is not possible any more as there are no daily flights from anywhere..
I would seriously consider telling the government to save the money that they will spend on this publicity as the general public CAN’T GET THERE!!!!!
Tell the tourist board to get off there backsides and meet with the airlines to improve Winter access to the Balearics
I have had to wait until the end of March to get a flight that fits.
This is 2014 isn’t it!!

Dear Sir,
You mentioned (Wednesday’s Daily B) Spanish pensioners having their photos taken beneath the Magalluf street sign for Calle Punta Ballena which has become notorious. In the same year as the film The Full Monty an equally popular working class saga was released in Germany. This told the story of some young lads who had such a good time on holiday they could barely remember where they’d been. It was Spain but was it Costa Brava, Ibiza where? It turned out to be not just Majorca, not just my beach but the bottom of my street!
All along the beach are beach bars serving sangria and the like in big buckets with a dozen or so long straws to reach all the drinkers who have chipped in. Balanario 6 is one of 15 of them and is plum in the centre of the beach right by other “young at heart” German hotspots now universally known by their soubriquets Schinken Strasse and Bier Strasse and this was where the movie was set. So the Playa de Palma will not to be outdone by Magalluf we’ll match your drunks any night of the week! In the Winter if you stroll along the beach you’ll often be asked by a German couple to take a photo of them posing in front of our spot of renown. “Ballermann 6” is our Punta Ballena – even the names are similar.
