The Final Curtain
Dear Sir,
I read your article; The Final Curtain by Wendy Peters in yesterday’s Bulletin with special interest, not only because we have attended a performance or two over the years and thoroughly enjoyed them and it is really quite sad that it was the final curtain, but also because the final sentence of the piece questions whether Panto has come to an end on Majorca.
The North of Mallorca Amateur Dramatic Society have also been having Pantos and other good productions for near on twelve years now, most of which we try to advertise by your What’s On column.
Our forthcoming event is for the end of March where we are commemorating the First World War by way of some light-hearted entertainment and sing along.
Please don’t write off jolly good Panto’s yet, as the NOMADS are still going strong!
With regards,
Jan Shrimpton-O’Hara

Palma Nova and Magalluf - a lost paradise
Dear Sir,
I have read with great interest today’s piece on “Praise for Magalluf” by Jason Moore, where a group of Majorcan pensioners found Magalluf to be “not so bad” out of season.
Both my wife and myself - prior to the financial crisis - used to love to visit Palma Nova in the period from December to March. The place certainly was quiet, but was very peaceful, and the then visits of the “Pensionistas” from the mainland used to certainly enliven all of the hotels.
Leisurely walks from Palma Nova to Magalluf - via the “Santa Lucia” pathway - to our favourite cafes were always something to be cherished.
Now, Majorca is “closed” from September to May.
My wife and I certainly do not want to come to Palma Nova/Magalluf in season when the “beer monsters” are there.
I read with interest that Majorca is expecting a bumper year for bookings... regrettably, they will not include us, as we prefer Winter sunshine.
Come on Majorca...... you have the winter sunshine, and we want it.... or are you happy that your island is firmly closed for six months of the year
With best regards
