IS Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy who rather torpedoed the Scottish government´s bid for independence. Scottish leader Alex Salmond has said that an independent Scotland would form part of the European Union. But not according to Rajoy who said that if Scotland voted for independence next year then it would have to wait to join the European Union. Rajoy even said that there was no place for breakaway states in the European family. Now, obviously Rajoy´s message was meant really for Catalonia, which is also bidding for independence, but he certainly ruined Salmond´s big week.
