Dear Sir,

Of course we all want more flights to Majorca from the UK during the winter months, but it is no good just berating the airlines. If there was sufficient demand the airlines would put on flights. The tourist board needs to create this demand.

I think February is the best month to visit Majorca, the almond blossom is out, spring is on the way and the island is, for me, at its most beautiful. Is there a blossom trail along the lines of Fresno County USA - no, Is there a blossom peepers guide along the lines of the New England states - no. Does anyone know that Majorca has spectacular Almond Blossom?

The Tramantuna Mountains are now a World Heritage Site does the Tourist Board know? The best time for walking in these mountains is in the Spring and Autumn, but do the tourist board promote walking - well there are a few walks on the website. Speaking of the website it does not jump out at you from the Google search, you need to look carefully to make sure you have the official tourist board site, unlike say Haines Alaska or Sitka Alaska where they are in the top 3 and obviously promoting what they have to offer. These two “resorts” are about the size of Puerta Pollensa and Pollensa respectively.

I have had a house on Majorca for the past 10 years or so, my wife and I love the island, particularly out of season, but Majorca needs to get its act together to tell the rest of Europe and indeed the world that it is here - it is beautiful all year - and that there is lots to do besides get sunburned!!!! Dear Sir, Thank you for publishing my letter in September pointing out that all flights from Scotland & Newcastle to Palma have now been withdrawn from the end of October 2011 until the start of April 2012.

And thank you for raising this new problem with the airlines.
I follow the Daily Bee online and note that many other UK travellers are complaining to you of the inconvenience.
Previously the once-a-week winter flights from Scotland had been well used, perhaps not always absolutely packed and having a few empty seats - but I'm sure the airlines made money from each flight.

Majorca is not a summer only destination.
We have always found it to be very pleasant, in its different moods and seasons, throughout the year.
So let's hope that your campaign can persuade one of the airlines to see sense as it would benefit not just them but the island's economy too.
My wife and I shall arrive on Majorca in November - despite the drive to Manchester - and attempt to contribute to the economy in the restaurants & bars of Santa Ponsa, and in the shops of Palma.
