Dear Sir,
THE Balearics for the 2016 European Capital of Culture eh? I hope they have found a way of keeping the electricity on when it rains by then...

Dear Sir,
WE have been coming to Majorca for 30 years and have never seen rain like we experienced on Sunday night/Monday in Cala d'Or.
We felt so sorry for the hotel, restaurant and bar owners who had to watch helplessly as their businesses were invaded by torrents of water.
But how excellent the emergency services proved to be, working long and hard to get the resort back to normal in a short space of time.
We'd also like to praise the wonderful staff at the Melia Cala d'Or Boutique Hotel who did their very best to ensure the dreadful weather did not ruin our holiday even though they had to work so hard to repair the damage the storm had caused.
The weather definitely won't stop us coming back to Majorca, but perhaps we'll come earlier in the season from now on!

Dear Sir,
I wonder if you would kindly permit me to pass on my heartfelt thanks to all the kind people who sponsored me today.
The event was the annual Trenca Garrons which I am told means break a tendon in Majorquin. And that we almost did!
It is basically an organized climb on bicycle from Puerto Alcudia to the Gorg Blau/Gorg Cuber, already quite a strenuous ride at any time, but it then continues the 6 km up to the top of Puig Major. It is the only time of the year that this Military Area is open to the public, and the road is very steep. Gorgeous views, though!
I made it to the top! And back again. Altogether 120 km in the mountains, and 6 hours in the saddle. OK, I didn't win any prizes (but I was not last either) and sore doesn't even begin to describe how I felt afterwards. However, I also felt a great sense of achievement.
This year I had managed to organize that friends and colleagues sponsored me, and we collected 320 Euro, which has been handed over to Dr. Stoma for his charity Meditarranea. Thanks to everyone who gave so generously. A special thanks to Penny, who came up with the idea of collecting for the charity.
