THE summer season is drawing to a close but perhaps next year the local authorities can finally resolve the problem of street prostitution in the major holiday resorts.
Both Arenal and Magalluf have once again been plagued by prostitutes despite police efforts to crackdown on the problem. Some of the prostitutes have often been accused of robbery and violent assault but still the problem continues. When are the local authorities going to wake up to the problem, before it is too late? Illegal street vendors and prostitutes are giving resorts a terrible image and reputation Also, they are effectively making Arenal and Magalluf no-go areas for family tourism. The time has come for the local authorities to make a real effort to try and rid resorts of many of their ills. This recession is a golden opportunity for action to be taken. Hopefully at the start of next season the police will launch a major crackdown. More police need to be on duty in the resorts so that tourist can have a crime free holiday.
