DEAR SIR,
RURAL LIFE 8 AUGUST
IN this article George Giri describes the bullfight as a highly successful event if by successful he is referring to the sadistic torture these animals suffer both in the bullring and behind the scenes then he is correct.
However this is not a sport, there is no skill involved for there can be no other outcome for these animals once inside the bullring other than a slow painful death.
Bullfighting is simply torture of animals for so called entertainment so for Mr Giri to compare this sadistic practise with hunting animals for food is simply incorrect.
A recent vote passed by the parliament of Catalonia banning bullfighting shows there is no place in a civilised society to allow this abhorrent practise to continue, let us hope the next time bullfighting is mentioned in the Daily Bulletin it will be to confirm that it has been relegated to the history books where it belongs.
