WELL, Easter has come and gone and I am afraid to say it has rather been a wash-out. The British have stayed at home, the Spanish went to London and Majorca really didn´t get into full swing. There are still a large number of hotels which have not opened yet. Amazing, when you consider that until recently Easter marked the start of the summer season. Now it looks as if most hotels are not going to open until next month. The dreadful Easter weather has not helped and I sincerely hope that it wasn´t a taster of what is to come. If large numbers of British tourists do stay at home this year then Majorca, Ibiza and Minorca have serious problems. But what amazes me is why more effort hasn´t been made to underline the fact that the island is open for business. The sad state of affairs is what do you do when the sun is not shining in Majorca? But this is where the local authorities should come in and organise events which can be enjoyed by all and not ruined by the weather. Surely, the folk dance festival would have been better over the Easter weekend rather than this week? I sincerely hope that things are going to improve for Majorca over the coming weeks but at the moment Easter has been a reminder that all is not well.
