The British papers are full of special offers to spend three or four days enjoying some of the Christmas markets all over Europe and according to UK travel industry sources, as usual, thousands of Britons can not get enough of these festive breaks - something which appears to have passed Majorca by, yet again.
This year, as I wrote in this column last week, Palma City Council and the retailers have really made a huge effort to inject some festive spirit into the city and it appears to be working. It certainly feels like Christmas wandering around the capital which is littered with all sorts of Christmas markets - just the kinds which thousands of Britons are flying overseas to visit and enjoy some unusual Christmas shopping buying exotic presents.
However, it appears that the Majorcan Ministry for Tourism is disconnected with what is happening here and abroad.
This winter, more hotels than ever have closed up for what the hoteliers expected to be a long Winter, many are not even going to bother opening for Easter!
But, most of Palma's city hotels are open for business.
Excellent news, especially as there are more regular Winter flights operating between Palma and the UK this year.
Sadly though, it is unlikely that foreigners are going to be flocking to Palma's Christmas markets. Firstly, they are not being promoted in the UK and secondly, Palma's hotels are the most expensive in Spain.
