Dear Sir,

Like a great many of your readers I am sure, I am among the many dog lovers here on the island. Being a responsible dog owner, I have my pet chipped and vaccinated as per the law. I take my dog passport and bags to clean up whenever and wherever I go walking. I have taken my dog to training and socialization classes to ensure that she behaves in public places.

Over the last years, there appear to be fewer and fewer places on the island where we can enjoy dog walking. From what I understand, it is not permitted to walk dogs on beaches nor walk them without leash in the country and now the latest this month is that our beloved friend cannot join us on our bike rides, as bicycles are now banned from the pavements/seafront promenade? Obviously we cannot take them on roads or on the cycle lanes as this would be a danger to us, our four legged friends and other cyclists. So, taking all this into account……..where can I still enjoy walking my dog without her having to be on a leash at all times or receiving a heavy fine for not doing so? I would be very grateful if anyone could clarify the general regulations or tell me where I can find these out?
