Dear Sir,
What a difference it makes being in Palma Nova during the winter months. We are able to sleep all through the night without being wakened every morning at 4am. The reason for this is that one of the really troublesome nearby hotels is closed. Throughout the summer months we are subjected to screaming, shouting and swearing by the 18-30*s mob from their balconies. However, this is nothing compared with their behaviour from 4am-6am when they return back drunk from the discos. Beer bottles and furniture are regularly thrown down onto the street. A visit to the hotel reception was enlightening. We were advised that they have no night security since the last security person was badly beaten by their so-called guests. Basically, these yobs are free to run amok, throughout the night, in this den of iniquity. Various telephone calls by ourselves and other residents to the local police have no effect. As soon as the police leave the rioting starts again.
Why is this allowed to happen? We have two other hotels beside us and we never have any problems with these well run hotels. As the police can't help and the hotel owners are not interested, can anyone tell me who to contact to try to solve this on-going problem?

Dear Sir,
I n obedience to Anne Kay's advice that we should all vote at the coming local elections, I went to my Town Hall to ask if I could be registered to vote. I was greeted by blank stares from the office staff including the local police.
We haven't got any voters list, I was told. I informed Kate Mentinck (a political candidate for Calvia) of this sorry state at a recent meeting of the Conservatives Abroad. She gave me a copy of the necessary form and told us that these forms had been sent out to all the Town Halls as long ago as last August. When I returned to my Town hall accompanied by my form, they stared at it in amazement, still not knowing what they should do with it. I am not too sure myself!
However, I filled in the form and left it with a still bewildered staff, including the policeman. Here's hoping. It seems that my spirit is willing but their flesh is weak.
Sincerely.
