Mallorca based Meliá Hotels International has signed an agreement with footballer Leo Messi's hotel chain, MiM, to manage its hotels from 1 November. The six MiM hotels will become part of The Meliá Collection brand.
The six hotels are located in Sitges, Sotogrande, Mallorca, Ibiza, Baqueira Beret and Andorra. MiM hotels ‘evoke the footballer's imprint and personality’ through ‘exclusive attributes’ such as the Messi suite and details of a replica of the Ballon d'Or trophy autographed by him.
The Meliá Collection, whose portfolio now includes 26 establishments open or in development in more than 12 countries, is a collection of independent hotels that maintain their own identity but benefit from Meliá's distribution, standards and marketing.
This model allows MiM hotels to retain their character and style while being integrated into a global booking and loyalty system with international visibility.
The Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, Gabriel Escarrer, pointed out that ‘the strength of this new alliance lies in the complementarity’ of the MiM and The Meliá Collection portfolios, which ‘not only share the same philosophy and a joint value proposition for the most demanding travellers, but also have the backing and inspiration of a global icon such as Leo Messi’.
