The west coast of Mallorca is rather less known for its beaches, on account of it being dominated by the UNESCO-protected Serra de Tramuntana mountain range that drops straight into the sea. There are merely a smattering of dainty calas and coves, plus a more generous sandy sweep at Puerto Soller. Cala Deya is one of the daintiest, stretching just 70 metres wide. Characterised by shingle and rock pools, and with no sunloungers or umbrellas on offer, it could not really be described as family-friendly - but that doesn’t stop it being a hit with locals and tourists alike. A big chunk of Cala Deya’s appeal are the two seafood restaurants, one of which, Ca’s Patro March, was used as a location for scenes in multi-award-winning TV series The Night Manager.
