For the 2026-2029 period, Palma Town Hall has placed a request for the authorisation of the use of 33,730 square metres of beach. This is a request for beach services - 5,000 sunloungers along with 2,500 parasols, 26 showers, two kiosks, nautical equipment rental units, and other services. The request has gone to the regional government's coasts department. Authorisations are typically given for periods of four years, at the end of which they have to be renewed.

The estimated income from these services is 6.3 million euros per annum. This covers the beaches of Cala Major, Ciudad Jardín, Cala Estancia and Playa de Palma. In addition, there is Can Pere Antoni beach, which hasn't been included in the financial report that provides this estimate.

The greatest income is from sunloungers and parasols - more than four million euros per annum - and these will occupy most of the space (27,763 square metres). Under specifications being drawn up, the sunloungers will no longer have a blue fabric; they will have to be white or beige.

Contractors will face an initial outlay to cover the cost of new specifications plus facilities that do not generate income, such as walkways for people with reduced mobility and information panels. The estimated investment is put at close to two million euros, with more than half of this being in respect of services that will generate income.

Four beach volleyball courts, one handball court and one football court are envisaged for Playa de Palma. A kiosk in Cala Major will be removed, but a new one will open in Ciudad Jardín.
