Palma is bringing back one of its most beloved popular traditions. The Casa de Andalucía in the Balearic Islands, in close collaboration with Palma City Council, officially announced this Friday the return of the Feria de Abril, which will once again fill the Balearic capital with colour, music and celebration from 23 to 26 April at Son Fusteret, reviving an event whose last edition took place in 2013.

The presentation event, held yesterday morning in the council chamber at City Hall, was led by the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, and the President of the Casa de Andalucía in the Balearic Islands, Rafael del Rey. To offer a preview of the festive atmosphere and bring the spirit of the feria into the Town Hall, the event featured a live performance by Pura Raza Mallorca, a renowned artistic group from the island that provided the musical highlight of the morning with a display of authentic flamenco talent.

The revival of the Feria de Abril aims to return to residents a major festive and open meeting space. The goal is for the fair to once again become one of the key events in the city’s leisure calendar, offering a high-quality experience for all ages.

In this respect, the new model guarantees the authentic atmosphere of the feria. The musical programme will prioritise traditional Andalusian culture, with sevillanas, flamenco and rumbas playing in all the casetas for most of the day. The gastronomic offering will also be carefully curated, with visitors able to enjoy products typical of the celebration such as fried specialities, ham, tapas, and traditional drinks including fino, manzanilla and rebujito. The event will also feature emblematic activities such as the traditional Misa Rociera and a performance by the Mounted Police.

During his speech, Palma’s mayor Jaime Martínez highlighted the joint effort behind the project:
“From the City Council we were clear that we had to support this initiative and work hand in hand with the Casa de Andalucía. It was both an institutional and moral responsibility to recover this space so that the feria could return with the dignity, safety and standard that our city deserves.”

He also emphasised the inclusive spirit of the event, extending an open invitation:
“I would like to invite all residents of Palma, the people of Mallorca and those visiting us during these days to come to Son Fusteret. This is not only a celebration for Andalusians; it is a celebration for the whole of Palma to share days of joy, family and togetherness.”

For his part, the President of the Casa de Andalucía in the Balearic Islands, Rafael del Rey, stressed:
We should not have gone so many years without the Feria de Abril, but today marks the beginning of its new chapter. It is a celebration that the people of Palma and the Andalusians who live here deserve, and we want everyone to make it their own. It is time to enjoy a real feria again — the authentic one — a feria of sevillanas based on our culture, our gastronomy and the welcoming atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.”

A bridge between cultures

Beyond its festive character, the return of the Feria de Abril carries significant symbolic and institutional meaning. The event recognises the strong historical, human and emotional ties that exist between Andalusia and Mallorca.

This relationship has been forged over decades through thousands of families who have actively contributed to shaping the island’s diverse and inclusive identity. In this spirit, the new Feria de Abril is conceived as a shared celebration where Andalusian and Mallorcan traditions coexist naturally, inviting residents and visitors alike to enjoy four days of friendship and cultural exchange.
