This will be quite a weekend for fiestas' events. They don't always fall on the same weekend, but this year they do - the Moors v. Christians in Santa Ponsa; the Canamunt-Canavall water fight in Palma; the La Beata procession in Santa Margalida; the melon battle in Vilafranca. And there are fiestas for the Virgin Mary's birthday, Palma having two big music events for what is the city's minor patron; Palma has typically not done much for the Mare de Déu de la Salut.
In addition, there are the first concerts for this year's Jazz Voyeur Festival in Palma, the Alcudia Jazz Festival and the Ravel Festival in Pollensa. For foodies, the Maris Galicia seafood event in Palma starts on Friday; it will run until September 28.
