An Italian passenger has been arrested at Palma airport after allegedly attempting to assault several airport employees during a disturbance at the check-in area. The man is facing charges of public disorder, resisting arrest and disobedience to police officers.

The incident unfolded at around 8am on Thursday, when private security staff at the airport alerted officers to a disruptive passenger causing problems inside the terminal. Witnesses said the man became involved in a heated confrontation with check-in staff and allegedly made threats towards employees.

According to police reports, the passenger’s behaviour quickly escalated, with officers describing him as aggressive towards both airport workers and fellow travellers. He was allegedly shouting insults, issuing threats and repeatedly striking the check-in counter, creating tension among passengers waiting nearby.

Police attempted to calm the man down, ordering him to provide identification and stop his aggressive conduct. Officers said he ignored repeated instructions and continued behaving in a hostile manner, at one point allegedly attempting to assault airport personnel.

The man was subsequently detained on suspicion of offences against public order, as well as resisting and defying law enforcement officers. The National Police has confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing. No injuries to staff or passengers were reported during the altercation.
