Passengers arriving at Palma Airport during the early hours of Monday faced lengthy delays and confusion after being left waiting inside a disembarkation area following a flight from Valencia.
Tensions escalated shortly after midnight when one traveller forced open an access door leading into the corridors of Son Sant Joan airport after passengers were reportedly left without information for an extended period.
Many of those onboard were supporters of RCD Mallorca returning from their team’s defeat against Levante UD. Frustration reportedly grew as tired passengers waited late into the night with little explanation over the delay.
Witnesses suggested the disruption may have been linked to coordination issues during disembarkation as well as ongoing construction works at the airport, which they say contributed to confusion and a lack of clear instructions for arriving travellers.
No injuries were reported during the incident and airport access was restored shortly afterwards. The disturbance is understood to have been isolated, driven by mounting frustration after the prolonged overnight wait.
