A man is under investigation for assaulting an airline’s ground staff at Palma airport after workers prevented him from boarding the aircraft because he failed to provide the necessary documentation for a flight to the United Kingdom.

According to a statement issued by the Guardia Civil, the passenger pushed the staff members who were trying to block his path and lunged at a female employee who was alerting security, throwing electronic devices and objects from the passenger service desk at her.

The incident occurred last Saturday during the boarding process for a flight to the UK, when ground staff asked the passenger for identification; he failed to produce the documentation required by the British authorities to enter the country. At that point, the man began to display an aggressive attitude and lashed out at the airline staff.

Shortly afterwards, the Guardia Civil arrived at the scene and detained him. The 34-year-old man, originally from Eastern Europe, was identified and charged with one count of causing bodily harm and another of causing damage to the IT and office equipment he threw during the incident.
