Unions have suspended the strikes by Groundforce and Menzies workers at various airports in Spain, including Palma and Ibiza, that were due to have started today (March 27).

This suspension applies to Friday in the case of Groundforce and to the weekend for Menzies workers.

Partial and indefinite strikes at Groundforce, part of the Mallorca-based Globalia group that includes Air Europa, had been called by the CCOO, UGT, and USO unions due to salary disagreements with the company. Coinciding with the Easter holidays, the strike had been called for this Friday morning, afternoon, and night shifts (from 5am to 7am, from 11am to 5pm, and from 10pm to midnight) with the intention of continuing these stoppages indefinitely.

Menzies workers were due to have gone on strike this Saturday and Sunday. This has been suspended, but 24-hour strikes from April 2 to 6 have not been called off. With Groundforce, there is as yet no indication as to whether there will be further suspensions of strike action.

Both Groundforce and Menzies operate at Palma Airport. Groundforce is also present at Ibiza Airport.
