Groundforce staff at Palma Airport to strike from 27 March over pay

The unions said the action will involve partial stoppages on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

CCOO, UGT and USO, Spain’s main trade unions representing workers across multiple industries, have announced that Groundforce, the handling company operating at 12 Spanish airports including Palma, will face an indefinite strike starting 27 March due to disputes over a new collective agreement.

The unions said the action will involve partial stoppages on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, in three time slots: 05:00–07:00, 11:00–17:00, and 22:00–00:00. The dispute centres on disagreements over the application of salary scales, specifically the CPI-related differential and the protection of purchasing power outlined in Article 94.

The unions criticised Groundforce for applying a “unilateral interpretation” of Article 96, which they say nullifies the agreed salary recovery for administrative and agent staff, leaving increases at 4.58% instead of the 7.82% intended under the 2026 salary tables.

CCOO, UGT and USO have urged all Groundforce employees to join the strike, describing participation as “key” to securing a fair resolution. “The aim is to ensure full compliance with the collective agreement and owed to all affected staff,” the unions said.
