Aena's Commercial and Real Estate Director, María José Cuenda, and the Spain Film Commission (SFC) president, Juan Manuel Guimeráns, have formalised a partnership through Aena's inclusion in SFC's Board of Patrons. This non-profit organisation coordinates Spain's network of film commissions and offices.

This collaboration, announced by Aena in an official statement, aims to position Spain as a competitive hub for filming diverse audiovisual projects by leveraging the country's airport network. It also seeks to encourage "screen tourism", mobilising audiences and fans of movies, series and documentaries to visit filming sites.

Under the agreement, both parties will work to establish a favourable regulatory framework that promotes and eases the logistical challenges of using airports as shooting locations. They will also facilitate professional networking opportunities by organising events, including festivals, markets, fairs and audiovisual forums, both within Spain and internationally.

By joining SFC’s Board of Patrons, Aena aligns itself with key industry players such as Telefónica, Netflix, IZEN and Amazon. This strategic move is expected to enhance cooperation between airport operators and film industry stakeholders, bolstering Spain's appeal as a filming destination and contributing to the growth of the audiovisual sector through specialised location services.
