Ryanair is reminding passengers that from 12 November, the airline will fully transition to digital-only boarding passes, marking the end of printed paper passes. This change means travelers will no longer be able to download or print boarding cards for their flights. Instead, all passengers will need to access their boarding passes through the myRyanair mobile app as part of the check-in and boarding process.

Under the updated system, customers must ensure they have the digital boarding pass generated within the app before heading to the airport. The airline describes this shift as a key step toward creating a faster, more efficient, and environmentally friendly travel experience. By removing the paper option, Ryanair aims to modernize its operations and further align with the growing trend of digital integration within the aviation industry.

Ryanair’s Marketing Director, Dara Brady, confirmed that the company is only days away from this full implementation. He stressed that from Wednesday onward, paper boarding cards will no longer be accepted, reinforcing the importance for travelers to prepare ahead of time. The airline has assured passengers that this process will make boarding smoother and more consistent across all flights.

While this change may require some preparation, Ryanair has noted that roughly 80% of its passengers already use digital boarding passes. The company is now encouraging the remaining 20% who still rely on printed passes to download the myRyanair app before the new rule takes effect. This will ensure all travelers can check in and board without disruption.

The transition forms part of Ryanair’s wider digital transformation strategy, designed to simplify travel procedures and reduce paper waste throughout its network. As one of Europe’s leading low-cost carriers, Ryanair connects travelers to hundreds of destinations across the UK and Europe. With this digital-only approach, the airline reinforces its commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency for the future.
