Starting next Tuesday, 4 November, Palma Airport will relocate its taxi rank as part of the ongoing improvement works taking place in the arrivals area outside the terminal. The airport authority AENA announced the change in a statement issued on Friday, noting that the aim of the adjustment is to remove current traffic crossings and improve overall safety, vehicle flow, and passenger convenience.
With the updated layout, taxis will now collect passengers from the right-hand side of the bay rather than the left. According to AENA, this alteration will make boarding quicker and easier, particularly for passengers travelling without luggage. The queue of waiting taxis from the holding area will also be moved to the right-hand side to align with the new setup.
The change introduces independent lanes for taxis entering and leaving the area, something AENA believes will reduce potential traffic conflicts and contribute to smoother circulation around the terminal. Although the new location will come into effect next Tuesday, the construction and adaptation work on the site will continue through the winter months.
AENA emphasised that this reorganisation will help streamline vehicle movements and eliminate problem spots between taxis arriving and those picking up passengers. The operator highlighted that these measures are intended to enhance both efficiency and safety for taxi drivers and travellers alike.
The taxi rank relocation is one of several initiatives included in Palma Airport’s wider improvement programme. The plan seeks to modernise the airport’s infrastructure and ensure that its facilities meet current operational demands while providing a better experience for all users.
