Palma Airport is experiencing widespread delays this Tuesday morning due to severe weather, while Ibiza Airport is also reporting occasional disruptions.

According to data from Aena, more than 30 flights at Palma Airport are facing delays, affecting both departures and arrivals, with connections disrupted to mainland Spain as well as other European destinations.

Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera remain under an orange weather warning this Tuesday, with forecasts of heavy rainfall of up to 50 litres per square metre in just one hour on Mallorca, and up to 120 litres over 12 hours in Ibiza and Formentera.

The airport operator has urged travellers to follow the safety advice of Civil Protection and to exercise extra caution when travelling. Aena has also advised passengers to be vigilant due to red and orange weather alerts issued by the Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) in several parts of eastern Spain.

Enaire reiterated the warning on Monday via X, stating that the Mediterranean arc is expected to see severe storms and cumulonimbus cloud formation, which may result in air traffic regulations. The air navigation authority has recommended that passengers check the status of their flights with their airlines and emphasised the importance of staying informed through official channels.
